Playful new look for BBC 2
27.09.18
BBC 2 in the UK has launched a collection of fresh new idents. Created by a team of British and international animators, each identity represents the channel's content and give a fresh new look. Sixteen idents have so far been launched with more to come in the future including from the award winning animation house Aardman.
Watch the video of the animations at the link below. Very imaginative and creative with the subtle shape of the '2' always in the background.

Fitness First now in great shape!
16.01.14
Fitness First has a new brand identity, thanks to UK branding consultancy The Clearing. The rollout begins in London clubs in January supported by a press and poster campaign, with Australia and Asia following later on in the year.
A very clever logo and dynamic new look for a company that was in desperate need of a new persona. Fitness First is now in great shape!

The Partners has created a new logo for Made in Britain, a national campaign promoting goods manufactured in the UK, (the UK's equivalent of the Australian green Kangaroo tag).
The new logo which is based on a quadrant of the Union Jack flag, also forms an arrow that can be rotated creating emphasis when used, for example on packaging or in store. The flexible design allows the logo to be used either independently or with a brand name, and even in various different colours.
I really like this logo, although I partly agree with comments left by other designers online questioning why the two 'in's don't line up, however I think The Partners have used sound logic in their design. It was a privilege for me to be part of the team at The Partners from 1997-1999. The Partners have done it again!

Another lovely seasonal advert for
John Lewis by adamandeveDDB
10.11.13
John Lewis has launched a new
advertising campaign in the run up to Christmas. Created by London agency adamandeveDDB 'The Bear who had
never seen Christmas' is an animated
tale featuring Bear and his faithful friend Hare. Bear has never seen Christmas before and Hare is determined that Bear should have a Christmas to remember.
Beautifully animated by Blinkink/ Hornet, featuring Lily Allen singing Keane's song 'Somewhere only we know' it is John Lewis' most integrated campaign yet. Featuring
a TV advert, eBook and hardback book, merchandising, window displays, instore caves, and use of social media, it is sure to help keep the tills ringing at John Lewis over the festive period.
Thank you Adobe Muse!
04.11.13
After subscribing to Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription service and downloading my usual software I came across Adobe Muse.
Muse is a new programme that offers designers the ability to design and build websites without writing a single line of code, yay!
As a designer, what I like about Muse is that it borrows many features from Indesign such as the ability to create master pages and apply paragraph styles to text, even the interface layout is similar to Indesign and Illustrator.
Muse gives you the ability to design websites that work across different platforms such as desktop computers, smart phones and tablets. Creating menus, slideshows and presentations is easy using Widgets, and it is great to have so much control over text editing, and the ability to download web fonts for free.
As with all of Adobe's software, Muse integrates very well with other Adobe programmes such as Photoshop and Illustrator, in fact you can create graphics in almost any of the Adobe programmes and import them into Muse, even animation from Edge Animate.
As I first started using Muse I found some very useful video tutorials on the Adobe website and on Lynda.com (see links below). These tutorials really accelerated
the learning process for me.
To summerise, Muse is a great, easy to use programme that made building this website an absolute joy. I look forward to seeing many improvements and exciting new features in the years to come. Goodbye Fireworks and Dreamweaver, hello
Adobe Muse!

Jimmy Brings, for election?
I think NOT!
06.09.13
I saw this poster while driving through the Eastern Suburbs a few days before election day. At first glance I actually thought Jimmy was a real candidate, perhaps someone representing a party that was fighting for the rights of people to drink alcohol 24/7! But it's actually an advert for Jimmy Brings, the online bottle shop that can have your favourite tipple delivered to your home
within minutes!
